The Phka Rumduol rice variety was selected and put into production by scientists at the Cambodian Institute of Agricultural Research and Development in 1999. This is an early season rice variety with white and long grains of very delicious quality.
Phka Rumduol rice is only produced once a year. Cambodian farmers start sowing Phka Rumduol rice seeds at the beginning of the rainy season and harvest at the end of November and early December of the solar calendar. There are only two provinces that grow this rice variety with the highest quality: Battambang and Banteay Meanchey.
